‘The La Gacilly-Baden Photo Festival is a very special opportunity for Lower Austria’s professional photographers to show their photographic work every year, in which they explore the theme set by festival director Lois Lammerhuber,’ says photographer and guild master Christian Schörg, summing up his collaboration with the La Gacilly-Baden Photo Festival since its inception.

‘We are looking for the best works by professional photographers in Lower Austria that capture the theme ‘Cultural Heritage Monasteries & Public Gardens’ in pictures. Lower Austria is a ‘Klösterreich’ – in the truest sense of the word. In Lower Austria, faith has created an outstanding cultural heritage that includes some of the most impressive sacred buildings in Central Europe,’ adds Lammerhuber.

The sites were intended to proclaim the glory of God. Founded mostly in the Middle Ages, they were modernised in the Baroque period. In most cases, this meant that the old buildings were magnificently restored.

Extensive gardens surround these complexes like priceless necklaces. A frenzy of the beauty of cultivated nature. Inspiring oases of well-being with rosaries and herb gardens, with magnificent geometric interpretations of nature, with historical biblical plants, religious themed gardens and orangeries.
