CEWE PHOTO AWARD 2025

“Photography is about
making the visible visible.“

Every year, the declared aim of the La Gacilly-Baden Photo festival is to show works that make the festival’s values even clearer. In CEWE, the festival has found a partner that lives these values every day and also makes them visible with the largest photo competition in the world.

The submitted images not only show the beauty of the world, but also, and above all, its vulnerable sides that are worth protecting. With more than 500,000 images from over 170 countries in 2023 the CEWE Photo Award is the world’s largest photography competition. 

For the 2025 festival festival director and CEWE Photo Award jury member Lois Lammerhuber together with Michael Pollaschak, Director Marketing CEWE Austria, has selected from the Austrian entries to the 2025 competition those pictures that best depict ordinary everyday life, in other words, those pictures by passionate photographers who, as Michael Pollaschak puts it, ‘depict the most personal experiences and moments.’

For the festival Pollaschak and Lammerhuber have edited the works of the following photographers: Armin Abdehou, Bettina Bachernegg, Christian Billaudet, Tommaso Bonfiglio, Gaby Dorka, Merlin Essl, Mike Eyett, Ben Geritzer, Franz Hammer, Noemi Hermann, Josef Hinterleitner, Walter Hirscher, Chiara Jappel, Manfred Karner, Michael Kemter, Benjamin Kriks, Valentina Lackstätter, Hans Lahodny, Wolfgang Laimer, Pithawat Limwattanaphanchai, Brigitte Lintner, Philipp Malli, Judith Mijderwijk, Thorsten Mühlbacher, Ernst Pachernegg, Doris Rehling, Ludwig Schmid, Walter Schreir, Nazanin Valeh Shiva, Markus Sladek, Patrick Steiner, Johannes Strauss, Helmut Sulzberger, Renate Willinger, Leon Wissounig.

However, CEWE is not only pursuing artistic goals with the Photo Award: for each photo submitted, CEWE donates 10 cents to the SOS Children’s Villages worldwide.
