There was considerable interest from members of the press, both domestic and international, in the press conference announcing the La Gacilly-Baden Photo 2026 festival, held at the British Embassy in Vienna and also streamed online. Following the ‘Good Morning, Great Britain’ statement by Her Excellency Ambassador Lindsay Skoll, Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli, Mayor of the municipality of Baden and Member of the Austrian National Council, spoke about the significance of the festival for the town of Baden.

Festival Director Lois Lammerhuber and Commercial Director Silvia Lammerhuber then presented the programme and extended an invitation to the opening on 12 June 2026 at the Stadttheater Baden.

It is a great honour for the festival to dedicate the 2026 edition to Jane Goodall and Martin Parr. Both had close ties to the festival in Baden, and both will be honoured in an exhibition in 2026.

‘SO BRITISH!’ is the main theme of the La Gacilly-Baden Photo Festival 2026. The other thematic areas are dedicated to the state of the Blue Planet – with a strong focus on the theme of water.

The third narrative focuses on the 200th anniversary of photography, which began with Joseph Niépce’s first photograph, Point de vue du Gras, in 1826.

A fantastic open-air gallery stretching 7 km through the parks, gardens and old town of Baden is transforming the city into a city of images for the ninth time, for a period of four months. With free admission, 33 exhibitions invite visitors to linger seven days a week, from midnight to midnight. This makes the festival the largest photography festival in Europe.

The aim of the festival is to invite visitors to engage with the challenging issues of our time in a sensory way and to be amazed by the images created by outstanding photographers. The festival attracted around 336,000 visitors in 2025.
