To all photographers who care deeply about the environment (and environmental photography): Enter the James Balog Earth Vision Award organised by the Denver Art Museum! The competition opens on 1 September.
The Denver Art Museum is proud to launch the James Balog Earth Vision Awards (JBEVA), a new biennial program supporting photographers documenting environmental change and humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
Endowed by renowned environmental photographer James Balog and a dedicated circle of donors, the awards will provide significant funding to lens-based artists committed to telling today’s most urgent ecological stories. The program includes a $40,000 First Prize and $25,000 Finalist Prize, with selected works entering the DAM Photography Collection.
Applications open September 1, 2026 and close October 1, 2026. Winners will be announced in January 2027.
The James Balog Earth Vision Awards are made possible through The Balog Family Endowment at the Denver Art Museum, with funds from Linda and David Cornfield, Dave Atkinson, Heidi Garwood and Stuart Horowitz, Nancy Benson, Virginia Brown and Cody Smith, Laura and Rocky Henderson, and the Scintilla Foundation.
