Hasan Baglar
Drum roll, drum roll… a moment of joy and recognition for photography: Hasan Baglar has been named the overall winner of the CEWE Photo Award 2025.
His photograph impressed the jury from over 656,000 submissions and earned him a photography trip worth € 10,000, high-quality photography equipment and a voucher for CEWE photo products – a dream come true for any photographer.
But the award doesn’t just recognise the overall winner: outstanding works were honoured in ten categories, showcasing the enormous diversity, creativity and passion of the participants.
And that’s not all: a selection of submissions by Austrian photographers will be on display at the Festival La Gacilly-Baden Photo until 12 October.
The award ceremony took place on 25 September 2025: what a festive night in Prague! Congratulations and hats off to all the winners who received awards last night: Eric T’Kindt, Yadi Setiadi, Yevhen Kostiuk, Günter Kleber, Xiaoping Lin, Gerson Antonio Toigo, Maizal Maizal, Filip Hrebenda, Mike Taylor and Hasan Baglar. The Young Talent Award was presented for the first time and went to Gregory Vergne.
I am proud to have been part of this wonderful jury – led by Christie Goodwin – with Ulla Lohmann, George Steinmetz, JC Piere and CEWE CEO Thomas Mehls, who summed it up with the sentence: ‘A photograph only becomes an image when it is printed.’ JOY!

Congratulations to the category winners
The jury selected one winner from each of 10 categories. Their photographs showcase the full diversity of photography – from landscapes and animals to people, architecture and emotions.

The Young Talent Award goes to Gregory Vergne
The CEWE Photo Award 2025 saw the introduction of the Young Talent Award, which gave talented photographers aged between 16 and 25 the chance to prove themselves.
The glorious winner is Gregory Vergne from France with his picture ‘Child Day’. The photograph shows the carefree joy of children – a touching moment.
Austrian success at the CEWE Photo Award
This year, Austrian Herbert Futterknecht secured a place in the top 30, making him the highest-ranked participant from Austria. Congratulations on this impressive photo of a hammerhead shark!
Festival La Gacilly Baden Photo 2025
The La Gacilly-Baden Photo Festival honours the participants of the CEWE Photo Award with a magnificent exhibition of the best photos by Austrian photographers. It will take place from 13 June to 12 October 2025 in the historic centre and the gardens and parks of the city of Baden. Admission is free.
