450 Years of Backhaus Annamühle – A Story in Images
Germany | Born in 1967
“The future of photography lies not only in technology, but in the way we tell stories.
Christoph Künne
AI opens up entirely new perspectives: we can relive historical moments, expand reality,
and realize creative visions that were previously unimaginable. Photography thus
becomes a bridge between past, present, and future – with human imagination remaining
the most important factor. With generative AI, we are not merely extending photography;
we are creating a new form of image-making – a kind of digital painting with words.“
Backhaus Annamühle in Baden near Vienna looks back on a remarkable history spanning over 450 years. Since its founding, it has been more than just a place for baking; it has reflected the people who worked there, the techniques they developed, and the stories that unfolded between oven, dough, and flour. Each generation has left its mark – from the early craftsmen to the master bakers of the 18th century, and on to today’s employees who continue the craft with passion. The current owner of Backhaus Annamühle, Manfred Schneider, not only keeps this tradition alive but also continuously develops it in a visionary way. His passion and dedication to creatively shaping the present – and, above all, the future – make him a personality who interprets the 450-year history of his house as a joyful mission: to think about the future, here and now.
To make this long history visible in a unique way, the photographs are generated by Christoph Künne, the inventor and mastermind behind the magazine Docma and one of Europe’s leading AI experts. His expertise allows today’s employees to be integrated into scenes set hundreds of years before the invention of photography. This creates a fascinating fusion of past and present: the people of today appear as if they have always been part of Backhaus Annamühle’s story. The images tell of tradition, craftsmanship, and the connection between generations. Each photograph becomes a historical testimony, showcasing the continuity of the place and honoring the people who shape it today.
This project aims not only to document but also to inspire: the combination of history, craftsmanship, and modern AI opens new perspectives on time, tradition, and the stories of people who keep a place alive for centuries. In this way, Backhaus Annamühle in Baden near Vienna becomes not only a historic site but also a living bridge between past and future.
