New Frontiers

© Joséphine Brueder

Welcome to a place where everything is bigger, more colourful, and more exaggerated than anywhere else, as seen by Joséphine Brueder. Through her travels across six of the United States‘ western states, the photographer shines a light on the unique relationship between humans and their environment, a paradox based on the dream of seamlessly immersing, and the urge to leave a mark. In a style that combines an artistic eye with a documentary approach, the 27-year-old photographer tackles the region with confidence, and raises an important question: rather than the conquest of space or new technologies, what if the true new frontier for our times was the relationship between humans and the environment?
