Karen Knorr creates artificial scenes with an artificially realistic feel, with fake animals in fake places, which congeal past and present. The strangeness and the irony with which she undermines any familiarity create the artificiality and the enigma that also shape fiction and the core of fables. Reality is being veiled in order to spell out truth.
